Monster Hunter

What a great project to be a part of! BlackGinger was there from the early stages, providing most of the previs, techvis and postvis for the film. Our onset scanning and data teams were on set throughout the shoot doing Lidar, photogrammetry and texture surveys. Our photogrammetry rig was used for all the digi-double scanning and our team worked closely with Dennis Berardi and Trey Harrell, VFX Supervisors from MrX, to support them while shooting in South Africa and Namibia.

We were then responsible for 2 sequences in the movie, both featuring the Apceros ‘monster’, involving extensive creature work, environment extensions and forest destruction, including many full CG shots, all finished for a 4k release.

The VFX on the film has been featured in several interviews with the supervisor and production team from MrX, who were the primary VFX studio. A big thanks to them for the shout outs in the articles. Take a look here:
